The Etched In Time
Statement
This series initially began as a set of daily drawing exercises, but gradually evolved into a more conceptual exploration. The portraits, in which the pupils are intentionally omitted, reflect the condition of contemporary individuals in a world oversaturated with imagery. These vacant eyes allude to a form of voluntary blindness — a visual numbness that arises from constant exposure to images, news, and narratives filled with violence and sorrow. The works serve as a critique of this phenomenon, where the sheer repetition and overwhelming influx render people incapable of truly seeing.
